We are pleased to offer an introductory program to Latin to students in Grades 7 and 8. Although Latin is seldom written or spoken, its immense influence upon English and other languages makes its study a very practical choice. Our intent at Immaculate Conception School is to help middle school students acquire language skills that will not only enhance their understanding of English grammer and vocabulary but also serve as a solid foundation for future study of a modern language.

In addition, this Latin course will not limit its focus to language; we shall also study the ways in which the ancient Romans have influenced our forms of government, our social institutions, writers, artists, and architects. The study of a language and a civilization that have had so much influence upon our own helps us to understand who we are and what we owe to the past.
