Student Life

Extended Day - Before and After School - Program

Before School Program

Students meet in the cafeteria after 7:00am. Morning activities include reading books, coloring and educational games. At 7:45am, students in Preschool and Pre-K are taken into their classrooms. Students in grades K-8 will go with their class. The Before School Program is open on early release days. The Before School Program Aide is Mrs. Picadacci.

After School Program

The After School Program is open when school is in session to students in Preschool to 6th grade. The typical schedule includes time for completing homework, however, it is not a tutoring service so homework is not checked and students are on their honor as to whether or not they complete it. An after school snack is provided in addition to indoor and outdoor play and activities. To the greatest extent possible, students will be active in either the gym or the school yard. Preschool students to grade 1 students will be grouped together and grades 2-6 will be together. On early dismissal days, students must bring lunch, a movie may be shown and a wide range of other activities will be available to the students.

Families who use the program will be billed weekly through FACTS for the days and time used, according to the following fee structure:

Spiritual Formation

At Immaculate Conception School all education is focused on the development of a personal relationship with Jesus. Emphasis is placed on instruction in the classroom, the development of a prayer life, participation in Mass and the sacraments and community service. The program includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Each morning begins with school-wide prayer and the pledge of allegiance.
  • School masses for students in Kindergarten - 8th grade are held on the first Friday of each month and on holy days of obligation.
  • The Sacrament of Reconciliation is held several times a year for students in grades 3-8.
  • 2nd grade students prepare for and receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
  • Throughout the school year, various religious programs including Stations of the Cross, praying the Rosary, presentations, retreats, and special guest speakers supplement Religion instruction.

Athletics

The focus of the athletic program at Immaculate Conception School is to teach and build teamwork as well as good sportsmanship. The student participants, coaches and parents are expected to model Christian behavior during practices and games and abide by the policies and guidelines set forth in the Parent-Student Handbook.

Girls and boys in grades 4-8 can become members of the school's sports teams in cross country in the fall, basketball in the winter, and track in the spring. The athletes compete in several meets and games each season. Students in the lower grades can participate in the after school soccer skills program.

IC Music School

The IC Music School is open to students of all ages, providing them the opportunity to learn to play an instrument, sing in the choir, or participate in music initiation classes for $50/month. Instrument lessons provided by the music teacher, Mr. Catano, are offered for piano, guitar, ukulele, saxophone, clarinet, flute, trumpet, trombone, and percussion.
